I am a transplanted Iowa farm kid who moved to Beeville after graduating from college. I taught history, physical education and coached in Beeville ISD for 16 years before moving on to work in higher education. I spent 12 years studying sport pedagogy, teaching activity classes and secondary teaching methods lab, conducting research, and supervising student teachers at Texas A&M University. I then returned to Beeville to serve as Coastal Bend College’s Head Women’s Basketball coach and Adjunct Kinesiology instructor. I returned to BISD in 2016.
I have taught every grade level from Pre-K4 to U4. In Beeville ISD, I have taught 7th Texas history, 8th American history, and physical education. I have coached volleyball, basketball, track & field, and tennis.
My current teaching assignments are: 8th American History, Girls’ Athletics, JH Basketball, JH Track
My elementary teaching experience was at St. Gertrude’s Elementary in Kingsville.
I spent 12 years working at Texas A&M University as Graduate Teaching Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant, Physical Education Activity Program Instructor, and Student Teacher University Supervisor. While there, I conducted research on children’s motivation and teaching for meaning.
Upon returning to Beeville, I joined Coastal Bend College as the inaugural Head Women’s Basketball Coach. I also taught kinesiology courses on the Kingsville and Alice CBC campuses.
I am the youngest of three children. Our family has a family farm operation in Iowa. My 92 year-old mother is still self-sufficient and politically active. My dog, Bella, is a 6 year-old huskie-shepard mix who is afraid of loud noises and snow.
Coming from a farming background, I enjoy gardening and yard work. Tomatoes are my favorite “crop” to grow.
